Greatwood raised a record breaking amount of over £90,000 at its Charity Raceday at Newbury Racecourse on Saturday 6th March 2010.
Over 270 guests attended a charity lunch and auction, where there was some exciting bidding, with Mr Peter Clarke of Powersolve Electronics bidding £13,000 for a Liz Armstrong original,The Great Contenders of Denman and Kauto Star, signed by the jockeys Tony McCoy and Ruby Walsh.
BBC presenter Rishi Persad and Henry Hannon ran a very amusing auction, which no doubt helped loosen the guests’ grip on their wallets! Paul Nicholls’ assistant trainer Dan Skelton gave his top tips as he went through the racecard and Kim Bailey and Johnno Spence ran a heads and tails.
Greatwood took over the whole day this year, a big step up for us, so a huge thank you to all the race sponsors, Mr Raymond Mould, Ladbrokes, Blue Square, Stan James, Crazy Larry’s, Mr Max McNeill of Ultima Business Solutions and David Richards for enabling us to do this.
Needless to say there are lots of other people who sponsored and supported the day, so many thanks to them, as well as the people who visited our trade stand and supported us there.
