Can you take my former racehorse?
Please get in touch and provide us with as much information about the horse as possible, including its registered name. We do not charge or vet to take a horse, although a donation is always welcome.
How do I become a carer?

Can I visit Greatwood?
You are welcome to visit Greatwood by appointment. As you can imagine we do get very busy so please call a few days before, to give us some notice. Mornings are best between the hours of 9.30 am-12 noon, Monday to Saturday.
When is the Greatwood Open Day?

Can I get advice about my Thoroughbred?
Yes, we will try to help as much as we can. If it isn’t a serious welfare case, our heavy workload may mean that it may take a few days to come back to you, so please bear with us if you don’t hear back from us immediately.

Does Greatwood take work experience students?
Yes but you need to apply in writing saying why you want to come and what experience with animals you have. You also need to be 16 years old or over. We are unable to provide accommodation.
Can I become a volunteer with the horses?
Help is always much appreciated but you do need to have experience of handling thoroughbreds. Please
contact our Equine Welfare Manager, Sue McCormick.
Can I become a volunteer with the children?
Volunteers with the children are welcome but references are required and experience with horses is essential. Please
contact our Head of Special Needs, Laura Jones.
